Shirley Banks and Hazelbrand Farm and Forest Hermitage

Hazelbrand Forest Hermitage is an old farmstead in Covington, Georgia, about 45 minutes east of Atlanta. The ten-acre woodland and farm is home to a small community of humans, equines, trees, a river, and other beings. We will practice sitting meditation on the main floor of a refurbished barn, use the outdoors and barn for walking meditation, and share a meal upstairs in a rustic kitchen and living room.

Shirley Banks has been practicing the Brahmaviharas for eleven years and teaches meditation at the Episcopal Church of the Epiphany in Atlanta. She is in graduate school at Emory University, where she studies the development of Buddhism in America.
